The Session has approved the organization of a trip to Israel to be led by Dr. and Mrs. Douglas and Collette Travel for February 4-12, 2019. This trip will be called "Discover Israel: A Journey of Faith." The plan is to recruit between 19 and 26 persons. Double occupancy cost is $4600; single occupancy adds an additional $600. This includes round trip airfare from Memphis to Tel Aviv. The hotels are rated as three star, meaning this is not a luxury tour. Collette's "Religious Tours" are more modestly priced. Significant walking is required on a trip to Israel. Cost includes breakfast and supper, trip insurance, which is required.
The tour will go to places like Caesarea, Nazareth, Cana, Tiberias, the Sea of Galilee, Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, Caesarea Philippi, Tel Megiddo, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Mount Olive, Via Dolorosa, the Western Wall and the Garden Tomb. Several learning opportunities will be offered prior to the trip which will help acquaint participants with some of the history and culture, both ancient and modern.
The introductory/sign up meeting is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, February 11 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at the Douglas's home, 902 Robert E. Lee Drive. The deposit is $540 which is necessary when you sign up.
Sign ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis. If there are not enough persons signed up from First Presbyterian, Greenwood, then the trip will be opened to other persons from Greenwood and beyond.
